MA in English Studies
The Master of Arts (MA) in English Studies is designed to help you build advanced writing, research, and analysis skills. With an MA in English, students move beyond surface-level analysis to uncover deeper insights and make informed judgments. They become students of the human experience and develop intentionality and critical thinking required for sophisticated research and writing, such as:
- Creating an original, nuanced argument
- Synthesizing complex information
- Integrating evidence ethically and effectively
- Digital writing practices
Students in the MA in English Studies will have opportunities to work closely with faculty as they develop a concentration in Literature, Pedagogy, or Rhetoric and Writing Studies (RWS). Through core courses in these areas and Digital Humanities, all MA English Studies students gain valuable academic and professional skills to engage with social, political, cultural, technical, and environmental challenges of the 21st century.
Our students develop satisfying careers in education, technology, law, media, and business, and are well-prepared for advanced study in English-related fields.
